August each year sees a bigger and better Blackpool air display as crowds along Blackpool’s Golden Mile thrill at the spectacular displays at this splendid free day out in England’s North West.
From the perennial favourite Spitfire to the ultra modern high technology Typhoon there is something at Blackpool Air Show for any enthusiast and with the wing walkers, parachute display team and the extraordinary Gyrocopter a fun day out for all the family.
The main action at Blackpool Airshow takes place between central pier and south pier, the newly completed Promenade is the ideal vantage point.
The 2012 Blackpool Air Show line up will include:

- RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team.
- Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire & Dakota.
- Extra EA300 Gyrocopter.
- Grob Tutor T1.
- RAF Tucano.
- SWIP Team aerobatics.
- Brietling Air-walkers.
- RAF Typhoon Aerostars Display Team.
Along with the Spitfire will be a Dakota aircraft. Sixty four years ago this month Dakota aircraft were in action during the Berlin Airlift where the west sector of the city, under siege from the Russian Red Army, were completely supplied by air for eleven months until the siege was lifted.
The 2012 Blackpool Air Show gets under way at 2pm with a thrilling air display from the RV8tors.
Flying their remarkably fast, fully aerobatic aircraft with powerful smoke systems, the RV8tors perform a thrilling and unforgettable display.
Close formation aerobatics are combined with speeds of up to 230mph and dare-devil opposition passes which create an electrifying spectacle.
The climax of the display is the giant white heart, drawn in the sky by the aircraft and their smoke trails. Regardless of the event, the effect of the heart puts people in good spirits, making the RV8tors display appropriate for all occasions, including public airshows as well as private functions, such as weddings and corporate events.
